KOSCOM firstly received CMMI Level 4 in financial business.
KOSCOM announced that CMMI Level 4 was obtained throughout whole businesses from the examination done through November 7th to November 11th by the inspection department of Carnegie-Mellon University Software Engineering Institute (SEI).
CMMI Level 4 means that unified standard process is applied to all the businesses that company operates and each project is guaranteed to reach its goal and advancement according to the standard process. In the entire domestic securities industry, KOSCOM has acquired CMMI Level 4 for the first time in Korea.
In 2000, industry, government and Carnegie-Mellon University Software Engineering Institute (SEI) jointly developed CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) with the support of United States Ministry of Defense.
CMMI has the characteristic of combining system and software area to provide wide applicability to business process improving activity.
Jose Arias, who executed the inspection as a senior examiner, explained that about 390 detailed processes of 19 core process areas of KOSCOM satisfied CMMI Level 4 as inspected by SCAMPI (Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement), which is the process improvement standard inspection technique.
KOSCOM was able to achieve CMMI Level 4 by 1) firm and clear reformation will of CEO with strong support 2) understanding and continuous activities to improve, evaluate all the processes with excellency based on voluntary effort of whole employees.
