KOSCOM received CMMI Level 3 on November 17, 2003
KOSCOM announced on 17th that CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) Level 3 was acquired throughout whole businesses from the inspection department of Carnegie-Mellon University Software Engineering Institute (SEI).
CMMI Level 3 means that one acquired corporate becomes mature enough to apply unified standard process to all the businesses it operates and each project is guaranteed to reach its goal according to the standard process.
KOSCOM is the first domestic IT corporate to pass CMMI Level 3.
CMMI is the succeeding model of CMM which is widely using as current soft wear quality guarantee standard.
Not like existing CMM has limited area in soft wear development model, CMMI Has combined system and soft wear area to provide wide applicability to corporate process improving activity.
This inspection used SCAMPI (Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement) and SCAMPI is more difficult to pass since it is tougher than CBAIPI.
KOSCOM says that there has been adopted and applied a tool called KOSPIM. It is an activity for continuous quality promotion and it established appropriate development method for new computing environment and improved project management and process reform. KOSCOM also has promoted KMS(Knowledge Management System) to share and spread knowledge within corporate and KVOC to instantly resolve complaints for customer satisfaction management.
Moreover, KOSCOM could receive CMMI Level 3 because there had been firm and clear will power of the CEO as with the full support, not to mention the understanding, continuous activities to improve and voluntary effort of it by whole employees.
